Once an industrial area filled with old factories, it has been transformed into a vibrant cultural hub. It’s now home to stylish cafés, independent bookstores, boutique shops, art galleries, and creative spaces housed in repurposed warehouses.

I stopped at a café called Onion for a cup of coffee before exploring the area.

The cafe is housed in a converted industrial building, blending raw concrete walls, exposed steel beams, and rustic charm.

From the café, I walked east toward Common Ground, a hip shopping and cultural complex made entirely of blue shipping containers, offering trendy fashion stores, street food, and pop-up events.

The Commond Ground

Common Ground is a unique shopping and cultural space in Seoul, built from 200 repurposed blue shipping containers. Located in the Gwangjin District near Seongsu-dong, it’s the first container complex in Korea and serves as a hotspot for fashion, food, and lifestyle experiences.

Leaving the stores, I walked west toward LCDC Seoul, a trendy lifestyle and cultural space known for its curated selection of designer goods, fashion, and art, blending modern aesthetics with creative urban vibes.

KT&G Sangsang Planet is a cultural and co-working space in Seongsu-dong designed to foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Operated by KT&G, it offers facilities for startups, artists, and entrepreneurs, including co-working spaces, event halls, and art galleries.

This single straight street is the most popular spot in Seongsu-dong, where most people stroll and explore. Its name is Yeonmujang-gil, known for its vibrant mix of cafés, galleries, and trendy shops.

On the left side of Seongsui-ro, I took some time to explore the area, discovering cozy cafés and boutique shops.

Tamburins is a luxury skincare and fragrance brand from South Korea known for its minimalist aesthetic and high-quality products.

The Dior Seongsu building is a stunning flagship store in Seongsu-dong, combining luxury fashion with architectural brilliance. Designed by Christian de Portzamparc, the building features a striking white façade resembling flowing fabric, evoking the elegance and fluidity of Dior’s couture.

At the end of the shopping street, I walked west toward Seoul Forest, a large urban park offering peaceful green spaces, walking paths, and scenic views—a perfect retreat from the city’s bustle.
