Black Canyon of the Gunnison is famous for its dizzying vertical cliffs, dark volcanic rock, and the powerful river that carved one of the steepest and narrowest canyons on the continent. Viewpoints along the rim reveal breathtaking depths and rugged beauty.
I almost bypassed this national park because I didn’t know it existed.
The visitor park
Sightseeing in this park is primarily done from the canyon rim. There may be a road that leads to the bottom, but I didn’t take it.
Another view of the cliff
I drove a little farther and stopped at another overlook.
