Kansas Old Prarie Twon is a 6-acre living-history village built around an original pioneer-era stone house. It recreates a late-1800s Kansas prairie town.

Nearby from the Prarie Town is the city of Topeka.

Topeka is Kansas’s capital city, known for its grand Capitol with murals and dome tours, its pivotal place in the Brown v. Board civil rights case, and nearby sites reflecting frontier and prairie history.

From Topeka, I drove to Lawrence.  Lawrence is a lively university town in Kansas, centered on the University of Kansas, known for its artsy downtown on Massachusetts Street, Civil War–era history from “Bleeding Kansas,” and a vibrant mix of cafés, music venues, and museums.
