I stayed in Gatlinburg while visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Gatlinburg is a lively gateway town pressed against the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Its main street is lined with souvenir shops, candy stores, distilleries, restaurants, and small museums, all packed closely together and easy to explore on foot.

The town also features craft galleries and local artisans, reflecting the region’s Appalachian heritage.

Even on weekdays, Gatlinburg can feel crowded, especially in summer and fall, but its energetic atmosphere, bright lights, and constant stream of visitors make it a sharp contrast to the quiet forests just minutes away.

Pedestrian bridges, chairlift rides, and glass-bottom observation towers offer elevated views of the surrounding mountains.
