Busan Choryang Ibagu-gil, South Korea
Ibagu-gil means “story road,” which means that this road has stories. This road leads to the neighborhoods on the hill where people who lost their houses to live made their residence during the Korean War.
Starting Point of Ibagu-gil: 16 Jungang-daero 209beon-gil, Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, South Korea
The starting point for Ibagu-gil is just across from the Busan Station.
The first building to see is this brown building on the left. This is the first modern hospital in Busan. It is now used as a historical preservation and a coffee shop.
Next to the building is this place where the first distribution storage building was located. It is now a parking lot for a market.
A short walk from the storage site is this traditional market which is about 100 years old.
Walking out from the market
and start heading to the neighbor upon the hill.
The backside
Walking forward, and meet this church, the first Protestant church in the south of Han River, Korea, which is most of South Korea. The church was established in the year 1892.
A half-block away is this small Buddhist temple.
This neighborhood is located where the people can see the ocean and right next to the busy Busan port.

Kept walking up and went up the stairway
The neighbors are talking to each other
Another stairway is in front. This has 168 steps. The neighbors did not have tap water until the 1980s, so the people had to carry the water using the stairway. Now, it has the monorail just next to it, so people use it rather than the stairway.
I took a ride the monorail.
On the top of the stairs, it has an observation deck. The look of Busan Port from the observation deck.
A panoramic view of the city below from left to right.
Buildings on the top of the stairway.
I walked down a little bit for a better view of the city.
I then kept going up by taking the stairs.
and go up more from the stairway
then I could see another panoramic view the city
