Jae-cheol Seo is a renowned photographer born in 1947 on Jeju Island, South Korea. Throughout his career, he has held prestigious positions like Head of the Photography Department at Jeju Shinmun and Editorial Director at Jeju Minilbo.

Currently, he serves as an inaugural artist for the Jeju Island Art Competition and Director of the Natural Love Art Museum Photo Gallery.

Seo’s work is particularly lauded for capturing the essence of Jeju Island’s natural landscapes and cultural heritage.

Notably, he has dedicated over 40 years to documenting the lives of Jeju’s haenyeo (female divers), offering a powerful and intimate portrayal of their unique tradition.
