I arrived in Wengen and took a quick walk around the town to get my first look at this mountain village. 1332

Wengen is not a large town, so it did not take long to look around. It was also raining, so I kept my walk short and moved quickly through the town.
Wengen is a small mountain village on the hillside above Lauterbrunnen. It is easily reached by a short train ride from Lauterbrunnen, with the railway climbing steeply up the mountainside to the village.
I took several trains to reach Wengen from Bern. My journey was Bern → Interlaken → Lauterbrunnen → Wengen, with the scenery becoming increasingly mountainous along the way.
Wengen is a small mountain village in Switzerland’s Bernese Oberland, located on a sunny terrace above the Lauterbrunnen Valley at about 1,274 meters (4,180 feet). The village is largely car-free and is reached mainly by the mountain railway from Lauterbrunnen.
Surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Jungfrau region, Wengen is known for its mountain scenery, hiking, and skiing. It is also a convenient base for visiting Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch. Despite being an internationally known resort, the center remains compact and easy to explore on foot.

I turned around and returned to Dorfstrasse, then turned right onto Wengen Street to continue my walk.
Then I took another narrow side street and followed it back to where I had started my walk.

I came back to this place several times during my stay because their soup and salad were excellent.
