The Elvis Presley Birth Location is a historic museum site in Tupelo, Mississippi, dedicated to the preservation of the birth location of Elvis Presley.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, on January 8, 1935, to Vernon and Gladys Presley. Born in a two-room house built by his father, grandfather and uncle, Elvis was one of twin brothers born to the Presleys. His brother, Jessie Garon, was stillborn. Elvis grew up in Tupelo surrounded by his extended family including his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Financially, times were hard on Vernon and Gladys, and they had to move out of the house where Elvis was born when he was only a few years old for lack of payment. Vernon and Gladys worked various jobs while in Tupelo and moved several different times during the thirteen years they resided in Mississippi.

This building is the visitor center and has a museum on Elvis.

Next to the visitor center is the house where Elvis was born.

Next to Elvis’ house, the tourists are taking pictures. The white building away is the church that Elvis attended when he was a child. The church was moved from its original site to this place.

The house has two small rooms; one for the bedroom and another for the kitchen and dining room. The house is in its original location and has not been moved.

A short walk from the house is this small church where Elvis listened and learned to sing when he was a boy. The original site of this church is not far from here. It is moved here for preservation.
