Jul 10, 2023 | Ancient Site, England, Historical Site, Town

I took a day commercial tour from Bath to Stonehenge, Avery, Lacock, and Castle Combe.

Stonehenge: Salisbury SP4 7DE
Avery: High St, Avebury, Marlborough SN8 1RF
Lacock: 21 High St, Lacock, Chippenham SN15 2LQ
Castle Combe: 1 Market Pl, Castle Combe, Chippenham SN14 7HT

The first stop of the tour was Stonehenge.

Stonehenge is an iconic prehistoric monument located in Wiltshire, England, about 8 miles (13 kilometers) north of Salisbury. It consists of a circular arrangement of large standing stones, some of which weigh several tons.

The tourist path goes around Stonehenge, and this is the closest to Stonehenge.

This is how close you can see the stones.

One of the stones is here for a close look

There are many places in Great Brittan where the stones are gathered and stands up.

Many controversy on the purpose of Stonehenge but no firm conclusion has been made yet.

On the way to Avebury, we stopped at a small cottage town.

Town of Avebury

Avebury Stone Circle: The most prominent feature of Avebury is its large stone circle, which is one of the largest and best-preserved in Europe. The circle consists of a massive outer stone circle with a diameter of approximately 331 meters (1,086 feet) and an inner circle. Originally, there were around 100 standing stones, but today, many are missing or partially buried.

The hiking path that follows the stones.  Completing the circle would take about 20 to 30 minutes of walking.  I only walked a partial course of the circle.
