The National Palace Museum’s history can be traced back to the early 20th century when it was established in Beijing, China. During the Chinese Civil War (1945-1949), many of its most valuable items were transported to Taiwan to prevent their destruction or looting. Today, it remains one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive collections of Chinese art and artifacts.
The museum’s collection contains over 700,000 items, with only a fraction of them displayed at any given time due to space limitations. Among its most famous holdings are the Jadeite Cabbage, the Meat-shaped Stone, and the Qing Dynasty’s Emperor’s Jade Seal.
This post shows the museum’s Religious Sculptural Arts, Treasure, Historic Documents, Calliography, and Drawings collection.
