The museum is the first museum in Taiwan dedicated to modern and contemporary art. Zhongshan District, like much of Taipei, comes alive with city lights and bustling activity at night.

Most of the paintings in the museum were given by Ka Tokurai.
The museum uses video screen art extensively.
A large part of the museum was dedicated to the movie director, Edward Yang.
Edward Yang (Yang Dechang) was a highly regarded Taiwanese film director and screenwriter. He was born on November 6, 1947, in Shanghai, China, and later moved to Taiwan with his family during the Chinese Civil War. Yang is widely regarded as one of the most important figures in modern Taiwanese cinema and the Taiwanese New Wave movement.
Zhongshan District, like much of Taipei, comes alive with city lights and bustling activity at night. Neon signs, lit-up buildings, and a lively atmosphere characterize the area around Zhongshan subway station.
