Giverny is a picturesque village in the Normandy region of France, best known as the home of the famous impressionist painter Claude Monet.

Monet’s house and gardens, particularly his water lily pond and Japanese bridge, served as inspiration for many of his iconic works. The village attracts numerous visitors each year who come to see the beautifully restored house and the gardens that have been meticulously maintained to reflect Monet’s original vision.

I took a train and a bus to come to this place from Paris. On the way to the garden is this pretty restaurant

I turned right and walked a little way, but then turned back because the famous bridge was behind me.

At one end of the garden is Monet’s house

Monet’s house is a charming pink stucco house with green shutters, set amidst the artist’s carefully designed gardens. Monet lived here from 1883 until his death in 1926.

The house has been preserved and restored to look much as it did during Monet’s lifetime, offering a glimpse into the artist’s personal life and work environment.

Inside Monet’s house

The large studio where Monet worked on many of his paintings, including his famous Water Lilies series, is now a gallery displaying reproductions of his work.
