Yeosu Geumo-do Island, South Korea
Geumo-do Island is in the south of Yeosu. It has popular five-course hike trails. This blog shows the view of hike trails number three.
Geumo-do Island Hike Trail Three Starting Area: 224 Geumo-ro, Nam-myeon, Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, South Korea
I rode a bus from Yeosu to Singi Port on Dolsando Island, which took about an hour. From Singi Port, I rode a ferry to Yeocheon Port on Dolsando Island, which took about half an hour. These pictures are from the ferry.
Arriving Yeocheon Port on Dolsando Island. It is a tiny port town.
No bus is going near the hiking trails, so I took a taxi to the starting hike area for trail three.
Hiking trail three is known to be the hardest but has the best scenery. What I learned after the hike is that for people who are not very fit, hike trail four is more accessible but has equally good views.
The trail has stairs, but mostly it is steep unpaved trails. It is not recommended for older people who are not able to balance well.
It has many steep rocky trails. The trail is no walk in the park.
About 70% of the trail goes through the forest, where the trees block the ocean view.
This is the highest point in the trail and provides the best view of the open ocean.
High in altitude and close to the ocean, the view of the ocean is expansive and vast.
I kept walking on the trail. It was a steep climb down from the highest point.
It even has a bridge that connects two narrow cliffs.
Almost to the sea level.
The final path to the next town.
