Qufu – Qufu is a city in China’s Shandong province, once the capital of Lu State (1042–249 B.C.). It’s known for being the native town of Confucius, born nearby in 551 B.C., and for sites associated with the Chinese philosopher.

Dai Temple, Taian – This magnificent Taoist temple complex is where all Tai’an roads lead, being the traditional first stop on the pilgrimage route up Tai Shan. The grounds, enclosed within mighty walls, are an impressive example of Song-dynasty (960–1127) temple construction with features of an imperial palace, though other structures stood here 1000 years before that.
Tai Shan – Mount Tai is known as the eastern mountain of the Nine Great Mountains of China. It is associated with sunrise, birth, and renewal, and is often regarded the foremost of the five. Mount Tai has been a location of worship for at least 3,000 years and served as one of the most important ceremonial centers of China during large portions of this period.
