Orchard Road and Botanical Garden, Singapore

Orchard Road in Singapore is one of the city’s premier shopping districts.  The Singapore Botanic Gardens is home to the world’s largest display of orchids, with over 1,000 species and 2,000 hybrids.

Orchard Road is a bustling 2.2-kilometer-long boulevard with shopping malls, restaurants, luxury hotels, and entertainment spots.

Orchard Road was within walking distance from the hotel I stayed in Singapore, so I came here on foot.

The picture below shows the department store, ION Orchard.  It is a high-end mall with luxury brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Cartier, alongside various dining options.

This boulevard is lined with numerous large shopping malls.

I found a bookstore in this mall

I was expecting to see Chinese books, but to my surprise, they were all English books. Technically, English is Singapore’s first language, as it is the main language of administration, government, and education.

Next is the Singapore Botanical Garden. I showed the picture of Orchard Road before the garden pictures, but time-wise, I visited the garden first in the morning and Orchard Road in the afternoon.

The Singapore Botanic Gardens offers a tranquil escape from the city’s hustle, with its lush landscapes and diverse flora.

The garden was too big to see thoroughly, so I concentrated my visit on the National Orchid Garden area.

There are small museums and galleries in the garden.
