The Texas State Capitol is the largest state capitol in the US in terms of square feet. 6th street has a bustling array of bars, restaurants, and entertainment venues.

The Texas State Capitol is the capitol and seat of government of the American state of Texas. Located in downtown Austin, Texas, the structure houses the offices and chambers of the Texas Legislature and of the Governor of Texas. Designed in 1881 by architect Elijah E. Myers, it was constructed from 1882 to 1888.

Congress Ave runs straight from the capitol building, and it is the central downtown street.

Saint Mary’s Cathedral is the cathedral parish of the Catholic Diocese of Austin located in Austin, Texas, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, as St. Mary’s Cathedral. It is established in 1852.


Continue walking down Congress Ave toward 6th street.







Turn left at 6th street, then the area known as a place with many live music bars is reached. This location is also known as “Dirty 6th.” During weekends, this street is closed to traffic because too many people walk bar hopping.
