Bayeux Tapestry: This 70-meter-long embroidered cloth depicts the events leading up to the Norman Conquest of England in 1066, particularly the Battle of Hastings. It is housed in the Bayeux Museum and is one of the most significant artifacts of the Middle Ages.
Medium: The tapestry is an embroidered cloth rather than a woven tapestry. It is made of linen with woolen yarns in various colors.
Scenes: The tapestry consists of around 50 scenes with Latin inscriptions that illustrate the events from the end of Edward the Confessor’s reign to the Battle of Hastings and the subsequent victory of William the Conqueror.
The tapestry is renowned for its detailed and realistic depiction of 11th-century life, including the time’s clothing, armor, ships, and battle tactics.
This is a replica of part of the tapestry.
