Traveling to Cannes from Nice is just a train ride away.  I wanted to see the theater in Cannes, where the annual Cannes Film Festival is held.  I started the Cannes trip from the IGY Vieux-Port de Cannes, the picturesque port for boats & yachts in the heart of Cannes.

Le Suquet area, the old quarter of Cannes, situated on a hill, offers picturesque views of the city and harbor. It features narrow streets, old houses, and the Church of Our Lady of Esperance.

I had seen enough of the area, so I walked back down to the IGY Vieux-Port de Cannes.

The IGY Vieux-Port de Cannes.  They had a market here in the plaza.

I walked toward the movie theater where the annual Cannes Film Festival was being held.

Walked along La Croisette Street. This is the famous boulevard that stretches along the Mediterranean coast. It’s known for its luxury hotels, such as the Carlton, Majestic, and Martinez, as well as high-end boutiques, restaurants, and sandy beaches.

A small museum next to the theater showed some movie clips.

Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes. The Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes (Palais des Festivals et des Congrès) is a famous convention center. It is renowned for hosting the Cannes Film Festival and various other major events and conferences throughout the year.

The original Palais was built in 1949 but was replaced by the current building, which opened in December 1982. The new structure was designed to accommodate the growing needs of the Cannes Film Festival and other large-scale events.

The Palais is most famous for hosting the annual Cannes Film Festival in May. The festival attracts celebrities, filmmakers, and industry professionals from around the world.
