My research shows that the most popular way to reach Hallstatt from Salzburg is by the combination of bus, train, and boat, and that is what I did for a day trip to Hallstatt.
It may sound complicated, but the bus and boat stations are located next to the train stations, which is convenient.
I took a bus from the bus station next to the central train station in Salzburg and got off in the middle of the way. Then, I took a train from the train station next to the bus stop and arrived at the boat station that would take me across the river to Hallstatt town.
In the picture below, I was waiting to board the boat to cross the river.

The boat took off to the other side
I walked to the main square of the town. The church on the right is the one on the postcard.

Lunch: It seems that pork barbeque is popular in Germany.
After seeing the main square, I walked back to the boat landing.
I came back to the same place where I got off the boat.
The left side is the direction to the town square, which I just visited.
The right side leads to the best viewpoint of the town. I walked toward the viewpoint.
I turned around and viewed the town. This is the most famous scene of the town.
Then, I took a couple more pictures of the town.
The village is famous for its breathtaking views, with charming houses perched on the edge of the lake and surrounded by towering mountains. The reflection of the village in the crystal-clear waters of the lake is a sight to behold.
To see this side of the town more, I kept walking in the same direction.
I turned around and started walking toward the town square again from this point.

Hallstatt has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its cultural significance and the archaeological discoveries made in the area.

Nestled between the Hallstätter See (Lake Hallstatt) and the Dachstein Alps, this small village is often considered one of the most beautiful in the world.

At the end of the lakeside town, a road leads to a furnicular that goes up to the salt mine.
Hallstatt Salt Mine: One of the oldest salt mines in the world, the Hallstatt Salt Mine offers guided tours that take you deep into the mountain. Visitors can learn about the history of salt mining, which has been a key part of Hallstatt’s economy for over 7,000 years.
I did not go up to the salt mine.
I saw this little waterway as I walked back to the town.
I cam back again to the end of the the lake town.

This is another side street, and I was curious to see what is behind the building.

The street next to the waterfront street is where the resident houses are located
I walked to the left side first
Then, turned around and went to the right side toward the town square

Then turned around and walked back to the side street where I had turned from the main street.
I came back to the start of the side street and then went in the other direction
This is more of the same residential area. I turned back here and walked back to the town square.
