The Eiffel tower Tower was completed in 1889 as the entrance arch for the 1889 World’s Fair (Exposition Universelle), which was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.

I had already been to the top of the tower on a previous trip to Paris, so I did not go up this time.

Then I took the metro and came to the Saint-Germain-des-Prés area.
