Covid Quarantine in South Korea

May 12, 2021 | Event, South Korea - Seoul Area

Visiting South Korea from the U.S.A requires Covid quarantine for two weeks. I chose facility quarantine, where the government put me into a Covid quarantine-ready hotel near Inchon airport. This post shows the hotel and the food I received in the facility.

Leaving Los Angeles through LAX, only a few travelers were at the airport.

Arriving at South Korea Incheon airport, I needed to go through three different Covid related checking stations – but it went relatively smooth because the airport had only a small number of travelers.  They need a phone number in Seoul who can identify you.  Also, everyone needs to install a Covid tracking app on their phone.  One can save time if it is already installed before arriving.

Same here as LAX, not many people were traveling, and all the airport stores were closed.

I chose to quarantine in government provided facility.  A bus took me to this hotel.  The hotel is chosen by them and they did not gave me any choices.  I paid about $1500 for 14 days quarantine which provides a room and three meals a day.

On next morning, they announce through the hotel announcement system that the breakfast was ready.  They left the food on the table in front of the door and announced it was ready to pick up.

The first meal was breakfast.  They don’t prepare the food in the hotel, so it was from outside.  The hotel is closed to the public, and it is only being used for quarantine purposes.

I find the room rather nice.  It is small as one can see, but it is a clean hotel room with a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom.  It has one window which gives the same outside view.  The internet is fast and reliable.  I had no troble waching Youtube or Netflix videos.  They provided trash bags in the room.  Once a day during the lunch time, they collect the trash bag if it is left in front of the door.  There is no room cleaning service, but one can order water, coffee or tea by calling the front desk.  They come daily for temperature measurement, and do two Covid tests, one right after a person checked in and and one right before the person checkout the hotel.

The lunch box food is good quality, though it is the same type of food every day.  They provide American-style food if one wants.
