The Governor’s Palace in Williamsburg, completed in 1722, was the official residence of Virginia’s royal governors and later of revolutionary leaders such as Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson.
Designed to showcase British power and elegance, it featured grand halls, formal gardens, and fine furnishings, serving as both a home and political center until it burned in 1781 and was reconstructed in the 1930s.
