From the early Christian times, the cliffs of Meteora were regarded as a perfect place to achieve absolute isolation. A place for people to find peace and harmony and, thus, to support mankind’s eternal struggle for spiritual ascension.

There are 6 Meteora monasteries perched on the vast cliffs people can visit today.  The one in the picture below is not one of the two monasteries that I saw.

This is a monastery that I visited.  This monastery is next to a car parking lot, making it easy to reach.
