The museum houses an impressive collection of artworks and artifacts spanning various civilizations and time periods, including pieces on loan from the original Louvre in Paris, as well as other major museums around the world.

Although I had plenty of time in Dubai, traveling to the museum in Abu Dhabi took a considerable amount of time. If you are a tourist with limited time in Dubai, you may want to consider taking a day tour from Dubai to visit the museum.

To reach the museum from Dubai, you would need to take the metro to the intercity bus station, then take the intercity bus to Abu Dhabi, and finally take a local bus in Abu Dhabi to the museum. This journey typically takes around three hours. You can use your Dubai bus ticket for the intercity bus, but you will need to purchase an Abu Dhabi bus pass for the Abu Dhabi bus.

Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, the museum’s architecture is a blend of modern design and traditional Arabic elements, featuring a striking dome structure that creates a captivating play of light within the museum’s galleries.

I divided the Abu Dhabi Louvre Museum into two blog posts because it was too lengthy for a single post.  This is the first blog.

The arrangement of artifacts in this museum is distinct from that of many other museums. It shows similar artifacts from various parts of the world together to demonstrate that the same ideas run through different cultures. This reflects our similarities rather than our differences.

Three different cultures, but similar in idea.

Similar patterns on the plates by three different cultures

Motherhood in three different cultures

And so on …

The museum has 12 different sections
