On this walk, I visited the St. Jakobskirche Evangelical Church, explored the Medieval Crime Museum, and strolled along the Rothenburg Town Wall.

I came back to the Market Square.

I walked to the upper left corner of the square, in the direction of St. Jakobskirche church.

The back side

The St. Jakobskirche Church.  This particular church is known for its beautiful Gothic architecture and its rich history dating back to the 14th century.

One of the church’s most significant features is the Holy Blood Altar, a masterpiece created by the renowned German sculptor Tilman Riemenschneider in the early 1500s. The altar is dedicated to a relic of the Holy Blood (believed to be a drop of Christ’s blood), and its carvings are considered some of the finest in medieval art.

On the upper floor of the church, there’s another notable carving: the Altar of the Twelve Apostles. This intricately carved altar is also attributed to Tilman Riemenschneider, the same artist who created the famous Holy Blood Altar.

The altar depicts Christ surrounded by his twelve apostles. Each figure is carved in incredible detail, with expressions and gestures that bring the scene to life.

Walked back to the Marktplatz

Then I walked down the Obere Schmiedgasse street.  Obere Schmiedgasse is a key street of this historic town.

The Medieval Crime Museum is on the Obere Schmiedgasse street.

The museum is dedicated to the history of law, justice, and punishment from the Middle Ages to the 19th century. It offers a detailed and sometimes grim insight into the legal practices, punishments, and social control mechanisms of the past.

I kept walking to the Siebersturm (Sieber Tower)

The back side

I walked past the gate and looked back at it.

I looked forward and saw the city wall surrounding the town.  If you look closely, you will see that the top of the wall is the walkway with the roof.  On the side of the wall is the stairs that go up to the walkway.

I climbed the stairs and am now on the walkway.

I walked on the walkway.  I walked about 20% of the total walkway

I came down from the walkway
