The Bullock Texas State History Museum includes three floors of exhibitions, an IMAX® with Laser theater, a 4D special effects theater, café, and museum store. The Museum collaborates with more than 700 museums, libraries, archives, and individuals to display original historical artifacts and produce dynamic exhibitions that illuminate and celebrate Texas history and culture.

The early European explorer of Texas was a French, La Salle.

La Belle was one of Robert de La Salle’s four ships when he explored the Gulf of Mexico with the ill-fated mission of starting a French colony at the mouth of the Mississippi River in 1685. La Belle was wrecked in present-day Matagorda Bay the following year, dooming La Salle’s Texas colony to failure.

Independent Texas

Texas was a slave-owning nation because of its vast cotton farm. Racism and white supremacy are ingrained in Texas culture.


Many immigrated to Texas from Mexico and Europe, but the majority of Texans, who are Southern Anglos, limited the newcomers from different backgrounds than theirs.
