Walking toward the civil memorial
This is the memorial center
This small center is mainly for viewing two videos on the civil rights movements.
Across the street from the memorial center is King Memorial Legacy Center, but it was closed when I visited.
Next to the legacy center is Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church.Â
The preserved Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church appears as it did when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. served here as pastor, from 1954-1960. The church was the site of mass meetings to organize the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott.
Looking left from the church is Alabama’s capitol. It was the first confederate capital too.

Looking at the side
This was also the endpoint for the Selma to Montgomery voting rights march.
Other government buildings surround the capital building.
Walking to the left side of the building
The building is the department of archives and history.
Next to the archives building is the preserved first Confederacy White House.
