The Hunter Museum of American Art includes 100 years of architecture and the most complete collection of American art in the Southeast.

The museum’s collections include works representing the Hudson River School, 19th-century genre painting, American Impressionism, the Ashcan School, early modernism, regionalism, and post-World War II modern and contemporary art.

The museum has two buildings, one with a modern style and another old historical mansion.

This museum is named after Thomas Hunter

He was once the president of Coca Cola company.

He created a charitable institution and gave his estate to the institution.  The museum building was his gift to the Chattanooga Art Association.
