The Lenbachhaus Museum is a renowned art museum with a focus on 19th and 20th-century art, particularly German Expressionism and contemporary art.

The museum is housed in the historic villa of the artist Franz von Lenbach, which has been expanded with modern architectural additions.

The museum is close to the NS-Dokumentationszentrum, so I visited this museum after the documentation center.

In addition to historical works, the Lenbachhaus has a vibrant collection of contemporary art, with pieces by both German and international artists. The museum frequently hosts temporary exhibitions that showcase cutting-edge contemporary works.

The museum also has a strong collection of 19th-century Munich painters, including works by artists such as Carl Spitzweg, Franz von Stuck, and Wilhelm Leibl.

The Lenbachhaus is particularly famous for its extensive collection of works by the Blue Rider group, an influential group of early 20th-century Expressionist artists. The group included artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc, Gabriele Münter, and August Macke. The museum’s collection is one of the most significant in the world for this movement.
