The Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site offers visitors a hands-on glimpse of what life was like for former President Johnson’s grandparents and parents as they settled in the area.

The part of the state park is Sauer-Beckmann Farm which is a short distance from the visitor center. It is a living history farm with costumed interpreters re-enacting the tasks of an early 1900s farm family.

Next to the state park is the LBJ’s Ranch.
LBJ’s ranch was the “Western White House” during the Johnson years of the 1960’s. It was and still is a working Texas ranch, and it provides an insight into LBJ and the life he enjoyed.

LBJ came here often during his presidential time to rest and work. To commute to this place, he used the air force one airplane to Austin and used a smaller aircraft to this place.
