The highlight of the museum is the permanent exhibition of Monet’s “Nymphéas” (Water Lilies) series. These large-scale paintings are displayed in two oval rooms, designed according to Monet’s specifications, to provide an immersive experience.
The museum building was originally constructed in 1852 to shelter the orange trees of the Tuileries Garden. It was later repurposed as an art gallery and has undergone several renovations to enhance the display of artworks.

The museum also houses the Walter-Guillaume collection, featuring works by prominent artists such as Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and others. This collection was bequeathed to the French state by art dealer Paul Guillaume’s widow, Domenica Walter.
