On the first day in the national park, I drove the Cades Cove Scenic Loop.
Cades Cove Scenic Loop is an 11-mile one-way road that circles a wide, peaceful valley surrounded by forested mountains. Along the drive, you can see open meadows, split-rail fences, old pioneer cabins, barns, and small churches that preserve the history of early settlers.
Parts of the loop follow alongside small mountain streams, adding the sound of running water to the scenery.
