Busan 40-Step Stairway, Chinatown and Texas Street, South Korea
Sightseeing around Busan Jung-gu. Busan 40-Step Stairway is where people found lost family members during the Korean War. Busan has its own Chinatown and an unusually named street called Texas Street.

The 40-Step Stairway is significant because this was the center of the Korean War refugees gathered to live and learned information about others.
I walked to the little museum on the 40-Step Stairways.

This is the original stairway which was destroyed by fire, and the new stairway is built about 90 feet away from the original.

The street on the top of the stairs has many printing shops.
A couple of bus stops from the 40-Step Stairway is Chinatown. Since this location was close to the Busan Port, China first established its embassy here, which caused many Chinese to live here.

This area also has many Russian stores.
One end of Chinatown is Texas Street which is a very short street. During the Korean War, many US military personnel patronized the shops around here. Now they are gone, but the name remains.
