On the way to the memorial hall, I stopped at Din Tai Fung restaurant in Xinyi, not one inside the 101 Taipei building.
Arrived at the memorial area, the building in the front is the National Theater.

The Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall was completed in 1980, several years after Chiang Kai-shek’s death. It was originally built during the period of martial law in Taiwan as a symbol of the Nationalist government’s authority. Over the years, it has evolved into a site of cultural and historical importance, hosting various exhibitions, performances, and events.
Chiang Kai-shek’s leadership was marked by conflicts with the Chinese Communist Party, led by Mao Zedong. This internal struggle eventually led to the Chinese Civil War (1945-1949) between the Nationalists and Communists.
Following the Communist victory in the civil war in 1949, Chiang Kai-shek and the remnants of the Nationalist government retreated to Taiwan, where he continued to lead the Republic of China. Taiwan became the last bastion of KMT rule, and Chiang ruled Taiwan until his death.

Walking to the subway
I stopped at Yongkang Street on the way back to my stay to visit Smoothie House for mango shaved ice, which is popular in Taiwan.
