The Historical Village of Hokkaido (Kaitaku no Mura) is an open-air museum in Sapporo, showcasing life in Hokkaido during the Meiji and Taisho periods (1868–1926). It features over 50 restored or recreated buildings, including traditional homes, farms, shops, and public buildings like schools and post offices, arranged into four themed areas: town, fishing village, farm village, and mountain village.
Visitors can explore the interiors of these structures, ride a horse-drawn trolley, and experience activities like traditional crafts.

The houses and buildings in the Historical Village of Hokkaido were relocated from various parts of Hokkaido or reconstructed to authentically represent structures from the Meiji and Taisho periods. They showcase architectural styles and functions typical of different regions and lifestyles, such as farming, fishing, and urban living, to preserve and share the region’s pioneering heritage.
