Hongdo Island in Sinan, South Korea

The only way to get to Hongdo Island in Korea is by taking a boat from Mokpo Ferry Passenger Terminal. It takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to get there by express boat.

One day trip to Hongdo island gives one about 5 hours and 30 minutes in the island.  It roughly gives 2 hours and 30 minutes for a boat tour, 1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking, and 50 minutes of lunch, and 40 minutes of rest and waiting.

The boat arrives at the island around 10:15 AM, which started at 7:40 AM in Mokpo.  It costs about $41 one way.

This is walking away from the boat to the town on the island, which primarily consists of restaurants and motels.

Going back to the terminal

The time to take the boat tour that goes around the island.  It takes about 2 hours 30 minutes and costs about $22.

The view of the town.  There are two towns on the island, but this town has 90% of the island’s population.  There are about 700 people who live on the island, and 90% of them live on tourism.

The island is very rocky.

A boat approaches and sells raw sashimi for the tour people.   It costs about $25 per dish.

Then continued travel around the island.

And came back to where it started.

Then took an express boat back to Mokpo.
