Myeong-dong is one of Seoul’s most famous and busiest shopping districts. The neighborhood is filled with department stores, fashion boutiques, Korean cosmetics shops, restaurants, cafés, and street-food vendors.

Myeong-dong Cathedral, completed in 1898, is a historic Gothic-style Catholic cathedral and one of Myeong-dong’s best-known landmarks. It also became an important gathering place during South Korea’s pro-democracy movement.

The main shopping streets are largely pedestrian-friendly and become especially lively in the evening, when bright signs illuminate the area and food stalls line the streets.

In the evening, Myeong-dong becomes especially lively as street vendors set up food stalls throughout the shopping area. They sell a wide variety of Korean street foods and snacks, making the food stalls almost as much of an attraction as the shopping itself.

Myeong-dong is particularly well known for Korean beauty and skincare products, making it a popular destination for both local shoppers and international visitors.
