Chuncheon Jungnimttong Catholic Church, Statue of Soyanggang Maid, Yukrimgogae, and City Center, South Korea
A day was spent visiting popular tourist locations near the Chuncheon city center.
I took a bus to this church from where I stayed.
This small Catholic church was built in the 1950s, but the church people who constructed this church had been active in Chuncheon from the late 1800s. The church was in many TV dramas and movies.
It was shooting day for something at the church, so I could not go inside.
I took a short taxi ride from the church to the Statue of Soyanggang river Maid. It is rather a big statue than I expected.
This statue is the fictional character of Korea’s popular song Soyanggang (river) Cheonyeo (maiden or girl). The river behind her is Soyanggang.
The lyric of the song.
Next to the statue is this Sky Walk.
Then I took another short taxi ride to Yukrimgogae at the city center, a small alley with many trendy stores. Unfortunately, due to Covid, most of the stores were closed when I visited.
Looking back at the alley from the street’s end (or start).
The Chuncheon city center.
One of the streets in the center is the alley with rows of restaurants specializing in Chicken Rib BBQ, which is famous in Chuncheon.
