The cow statue at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, known as the “Sacred Cow” (Shingyu), is a revered symbol believed to grant blessings, particularly wisdom and academic success. Visitors often touch the statue, especially its head, for good luck and knowledge.
The path to the shrine buildings continues to the left, leading to the fourth gate.
The rainbow bridges at Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine are significant as they symbolize the journey through life. The three arched bridges represent the past, present, and future, with the ponds beneath them signifying purification. Crossing these bridges is a spiritual act, cleansing the soul and preparing visitors for their visit to the sacred shrine.
