Daehakro is renowned for its vibrant student bars and cafes, featuring outdoor music and theater performances. In Naksan Park, a portion of the old fortress wall runs through the park. The wall was built during the Joseon Dynasty for protection against invaders and enemies. 174
Dongdaemun and Cheonggyecheon, Seoul, South Korea
Dongdaemun (East Gate) and Cheonggyecheon (Cheong Gye Stream) in Seoul. Dongdaemun is the East City Gate of old Seoul. Cheonggyecheon is a narrow stream that flows through the center of Seoul. 171

Myeong-dong is known as the most popular shopping area in Seoul. However, due to COVID-19, it was quiet and sparse, with fewer people. The Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Dongdaemun features numerous exhibition museums and serves as a convention center. 170
Deoksugung, Deoksugung Doldam-gil, and JeongDong-gil, Seoul, South Korea
Deoksugung is a mid-sized palace that the kings used during the Joseon period. JeongDong-gil is a charming and quiet street just outside of Deoksugung, and Deoksugung Doldam-gil is the street next to the Deoksugung wall. 172
Covid Quarantine in South Korea
Visiting South Korea from the United States requires a 14-day COVID-19 quarantine. I chose facility quarantine, where the government placed me in a Covid-19 quarantine-ready hotel near Inchon Airport. 169
