I arrived in the Uluru Rock region by flight from Sydney and had time to visit Uluru at sunset that day. I bought a three-day shuttle bus ticket that covered transport between the hotel area, Uluru, and Kata Tjuta. The tram ride from the hotel area to Uluru took about 20 minutes.

The shuttle bus ride was for the sunset view of Uluru, but it first stopped at Mala Walk near the rock, where we were given about 30 minutes to walk around and sightsee the area.

This is the starting point for the Mala Walk, one of the most accessible and culturally significant walks around Uluru.

I didn’t do the Mala Walk because it would have taken more than the 30 minutes we were given.

This shows the walking tracks around the rock.

In certain locations, there were plaques that presented ancient folk stories related to the area.

After visiting the area, we drove about 10 minutes to a spot called the Uluru Car Sunset Viewing Area.

This is where people gather to wait for the sunset. Many were part of group tours that included drinks and light food. I wasn’t part of those groups, as my tour only provided transportation.

I walked up a little hilly area
