Gimmelwald is a small, traditional Swiss mountain village perched above the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Unlike the busier nearby villages of Mürren and Wengen, it has retained its quiet rural character, with wooden chalets, working farms, and narrow walking paths. Surrounded by alpine meadows and towering mountains, it offers beautiful views of the Swiss Alps.
I am now on the cable car from Birg to Mürren, enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery as I descend toward the village.
From the Mürren cable car station, I started my hike downhill to the small mountain village of Gimmelwald.
Mürren is a small, car-free mountain village perched above the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Swiss Alps. Known for its traditional wooden chalets, beautiful mountain scenery, and views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, it is a popular destination for hiking and skiing.
Mürren is also a good starting point for a hike down to Gimmelwald. The trail is short and easy, mostly downhill, and follows a paved road with beautiful mountain views along the way.
This narrow passage between the houses marks the starting point of the hiking trail to Gimmelwald.
I have now passed the houses of Mürren and am walking along the road toward Gimmelwald, enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery along the way.
A cable car connects Gimmelwald and Mürren, providing an alternative to hiking between the two villages.

After passing through the main area of Gimmelwald, I reached the end of the street and wondered where this narrow path would lead.
The narrow path led to the cable car station, so I turned around and headed back to the main area of Gimmelwald.
After exploring Gimmelwald, I walked to the cable car station to begin my journey back to my hotel in Wengen.
